  4. This README file contains information about the graphic screen
  5. and text screen drivers currently available from WordPerfect
  6. Corporation for WordPerfect 5.1.  See the Installation
  7. Instructions below to find out how to install the correct driver.
  8.  
  9. The drivers currently available are found on PTR Program/Graphics
  10. and Graphic Drivers.  The PTR Program/Graphics diskette ships
  11. with the standard WordPerfect 5.1 package; the Graphic Drivers
  12. diskette does not.  You can order the Graphic Drivers diskette
  13. for WordPerfect 5.1 by calling SoftCopy Order Processing at (800)
  14. 222-9409.  In Canada, you can call (800) 446-4652.

  17. and the name of the .VRS file that is designed to support it. 
  18. Text screen drivers are noted by "(Text)" after the resolution.

  849. FLOPPY DRIVE SYSTEMS

  851. STANDARD.VRS contains several of the most common graphic and text
  852. screen drivers combined into one file.  .VRS files beginning with
  853. S_ (e.g., S_CGA, S_HERC, S_EGA, S_VGA, etc.) contain the
  854. individual drivers extracted from STANDARD.VRS.  These files are
  855. provided for users with two floppy drive systems who require
  856. additional disk space for program operation.
  857.  
  858. These drivers and STANDARD.VRS are designed to be used
  859. separately.  Therefore, STANDARD.VRS should be removed before
  860. copying any of these drivers to your working program diskette to
  861. prevent duplicate entries in the Setup menus.

  864. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  865. =================================================================
  866. First, look through the list of video controllers and locate the 
  867. controller name and resolutions that match your hardware.  To the
  868. right of the resolutions are the names of the corresponding .VRS
  869. file(s).  Copy the .VRS file(s) into the same directory where you
  870. installed WordPerfect 5.1.
  871.  
  872. Important:  The .VRS files found on the PTR Program/Graphics
  873. master diskette are in a compressed format and need to be
  874. installed properly before they can be used.  If you chose not to
  875. install the .VRS files or have not subsequently done so, you need
  876. to do so before you can use them.  Note:  The .VRS files found on
  877. the Graphic Drivers diskette are not compressed and do not need
  878. to be installed using the Installation program.
  879.  
  880. Second, select the driver in WordPerfect.
  881.  
  882.      1    Press Setup (Shift-F1).
  883.  
  884.      2    Select Display (2), then select Graphics Screen Type
  885.           (2) or Text Screen Type (3).  (See Graphics Screen Type
  886.           or Text Screen Type in WordPerfect 5.1 Reference for
  887.           more information.)

  889.      3    Move the cursor to the type of display card and/or
  890.           monitor you have, then choose Select (1).
  891.  
  892.      4    Move the cursor to your specific display card and/or
  893.           monitor, then choose Select (1).

  895.      5    Press Exit (F7) until you return to the normal editing
  896.           screen.

  898. Any .VRS files (except STANDARD.VRS) that do not pertain to your
  899. hardware can be deleted to free up disk space.
